Section 1 – Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains what information Jewelry Martin collects when you use JMINDEX, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it. It covers the website at jmindex.com, the member area, and the escrow service. It forms part of our Terms and Conditions.
JMINDEX is a trade platform for verified dealers and companies. The information we ask for is the information a dealer would expect to give another dealer before doing business: who you are, what business you trade as, and how to reach you.
Section 2 – What we collect
2.1 What you give us when you register
- your full name and email address;
- whether you trade as a company or as an individual dealer, and the name of that company or dealership;
- your city and country;
- your phone number and, if you provide one, your WhatsApp number;
- a photo or logo, if you choose to upload one; and
- a password, which we store only as an irreversible hash and never in readable form.
2.2 What you give us when you post
The content of your listings: brand, model, reference number, type of piece, materials, stones, carats, condition, year, price or “price on request”, your notes, and the photos and video you upload.
2.3 What we record automatically
- the IP address you last signed in from, and the date and time of that sign-in;
- a short record of sign-in attempts, successful or not, with the IP address and the email address used, which we keep to block attacks on member accounts; and
- the date each account and each listing was created and last changed.
2.4 What you give us if you use escrow
Information about the transaction, and the identity, business, and source-of-funds information described in Section 9.
Section 3 – What we deliberately do not keep
Some things are worth stating plainly, because we built the site this way on purpose:
- No tracking. JMINDEX runs no analytics service, no advertising network, and no tracking pixels. We do not profile you and we do not follow you to other websites.
- No location from your photos. Every photo you upload is re-encoded by our server before it is stored. That process removes the EXIF data cameras and phones attach to an image, including GPS coordinates, device model, and timestamps. What is stored is the picture and nothing else.
- No readable passwords. We cannot see your password, and neither can anyone who obtains our database. If you forget it, we reset it; we cannot tell you what it was.
- No card or bank details on the site. The website never asks for and never stores card numbers or bank account details. Escrow payments are arranged separately, as described in Section 9.
- We do not sell your information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
Section 4 – Why we use your information
- To verify you. JMINDEX is a closed group, and checking who is asking to join is the point of it.
- To run the service. To show your listings to other members, to let members contact you, and to let you manage what you have posted.
- To keep the platform safe. To block repeated sign-in attempts, to investigate misuse, and to enforce our Terms.
- To operate an escrow when you choose to use one, and to meet the legal obligations that come with it.
- To write to you about your account, your listings, and an escrow in progress, and — until you tell us otherwise — about stock, requests, and dealer opportunities.
Section 5 – Cookies
JMINDEX sets one cookie, named jmsid. It holds nothing but a random identifier for your session, which is what keeps you signed in as you move between pages. It is marked HttpOnly, so no script can read it, and Secure, so it only travels over an encrypted connection. It expires when you close your browser, and signing out deletes it.
We set no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies. If you block the jmsid cookie you can still read the public pages, but you will not be able to stay signed in.
The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, and the home page shows a Google map of our Miami address. Your browser requests those files directly from Google, which means Google receives your IP address in the course of serving them, and may set its own cookies when the map loads. The map is loaded only when you scroll down to it, so if you never reach the foot of the home page it is never requested. Google’s handling of all of that is governed by its own privacy policy.
Section 6 – What other members see
When you publish a listing, every signed-in member of JMINDEX can see it, together with the business name you registered, your photo or logo if you uploaded one, your city, and your country. Opening one of your listings also shows your name and gives the member buttons to reach you by WhatsApp and by email, using the numbers and address you gave us. That is the purpose of the platform: you are posting stock so that other dealers can contact you about it.
Listings are visible only to signed-in members. They are not public, and our site instructs search engines not to index the member area. Your address, your password, and your sign-in records are never shown to other members.
Members are bound by Section 11 of the Terms, which makes what they see on the platform confidential trade information. That is a contractual promise, not a technical barrier: anyone with an account can read a listing, and we cannot stop a member from writing down what they saw. Post accordingly.
Section 7 – Who else we share it with
Beyond other members, your information reaches only:
- our hosting provider, which runs the servers and the database the site depends on;
- our email provider, which delivers account and verification messages; and
- authorities, courts, or our professional advisers, where the law requires it or where it is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim, including the circumstances described in Sections 7.5 and 13 of the Terms.
If the business is ever sold or reorganised, member information may pass to the new owner, who would remain bound by this Policy.
Section 8 – The private groups
Our dealer groups run on WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook. Those are not our services. When you join one, the operator of that app handles your data under its own privacy policy, and what you post in the group is visible to every other member of it. We cannot delete a message you sent there, and leaving JMINDEX does not remove you from a group — you leave the group through the app itself.
Section 9 – Escrow and identity checks
Escrow is optional. If you choose to use it, we may ask for identity documents, business registration, and information about the source of the funds, as set out in Section 7.7 of the Terms. We collect that information to meet the legal obligations that apply to holding other people’s goods and money, and we use it for no other purpose.
Payment is made to us directly, in US dollars or in USDT, by arrangement. The website is not involved in that payment and holds no record of your card or bank details.
Section 10 – Where your data is held
Our servers are in the United States, and Jewelry Martin operates from Miami, Florida. If you are writing to us from another country — and most of our members are — your information is transferred to and stored in the United States, under United States law. By using JMINDEX you agree to that transfer.
Section 11 – How long we keep it
- Your account, for as long as it is open, and for a reasonable period afterwards so that we can answer questions about past dealings.
- Your listings, until you delete them or we remove them.
- Sign-in attempt records, only as long as they are useful for blocking attacks.
- Escrow records, including the Escrow Custody Receipt, for as long as the law requires us to keep records of such transactions, which is longer than the other categories above.
Section 12 – Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Passwords are stored as hashes. Session identifiers are regenerated when you sign in, so an old one cannot be reused. Uploaded files are re-encoded and stored in a folder where the server will not execute them. Repeated failed sign-ins from one connection are blocked.
None of that makes any website immune. Choose a password you use nowhere else, do not share your account, and write to info@jmindex.com straight away if you think someone else has been in it.
Section 13 – Your choices and rights
- See and correct your details. Sign in and open My account. Your name, business name, contact details, city, country, and logo can all be changed there, and your password with them.
- Remove a listing. Delete it from My listings at any time.
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, by writing to info@jmindex.com.
- Close your account, by writing to the same address. We will close it and delete what we are not required to keep. Escrow records and anything the law obliges us to retain will remain, as will messages you posted in the third-party groups, which are not ours to delete.
- Complain. Write to us first. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
We will answer any of these requests within a reasonable time, and we may ask you to confirm your identity first so that we do not hand your information to someone else.
Section 14 – Marketing messages
If you asked us to, we may write to you about stock, requests, and dealer opportunities by email, WhatsApp, SMS, or Telegram. You can stop those at any time by using the unsubscribe instructions in the message or by writing to info@jmindex.com. Messages about your own account, your listings, or an escrow in progress are part of the service and will continue while your account is open.
Section 15 – Age
JMINDEX is a trade platform for adults working in the trade. It is not directed at anyone under eighteen, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If we learn that we have, we will delete it and close the account.
Section 16 – Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. The current version is always at jmindex.com/privacy, with its effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell members by email before it takes effect.
